Your video update on my progress and the course contents!
You can now watch a video where I show you how the Challenge is progressing. You also get to see the full outline for the “11 Days To List Profits” course:
http://www.11daystolistprofits.com/video/list-profits-131006/
(You will need Internet Explorer to watch this video)
Michael,
Do you ever sleep? You’re making awesome progress on this challenge. My question about list building is… What is the quickest way to build a list?
Thanks.
Don
Hello Michael;
1) Do you have a ballpark figure on how much your video series will cost when it’s ready … or shall we have to wait?
2) Will the driving traffic portion involve any PPC expenses such as Yahoo or Google Adwords? … ie: will there be additional costs over and beyond the cost of the videos and the website/domain name … as in advertising costs.
My concern is what could start out as a few hundred dollar investment, snowballing into all sorts of add on costs balloning into thousands of dollars?
Thanks in advance.
Hey Michael,
I like the outline a lot, and I’m looking forward to the videos. This is coming in the right time as I was starting to work on building my list. I’ll be watching this space very closely. Here’s a question for you, and I know it might be ahead of time, but just I wanted to know. Do you think PPC campaigns are still effective in building lists (I mean specifically adwords)?
Thank you,
Ahmed
Well, Michael, I have to tell you: with this latest video you’ve brought my anticipation to a new level. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the size of the video, maybe it was less microphone redlining, i dunno, but congratulations and THANK YOU FOR TAKING ON THIS CHALLENGE, ie making this product. I purchased a similar product that was supposed to be new, but in fact was in 2005, and I am very confident that your product will pounce it 6feet under by comparison in quality of content–you are a lucid instructor.
Now for my exposition:
I’ve been reading the comments for all the videos…..
Concise: if one is covering the entire subject of internet marketing, concise is definitely in order. However, in my opinion, if one is focusing on a very specific topic, one does not necessarily want to be concise. Perhaps a better request would have been, “No Rambling On, Please.” But, please, be comprehensive while avoiding rambling.
In regard to free content and selling a product….perhaps Michael should have given a free written mini course to offset any possible misleadings, but I for one have zero problem paying for quality information, as I whole-heartedly understand that we all need to make a living, and one should remember that Michael’s content, again in my opinion, has been clearer than any of the other products I’ve encountered and have paid thousands for in total.
Information overload: without a doubt. The sales copy can be so compelling that we lose focus, and the perfectionists inside of us can hinder us from moving forward. But who likes failure? Some people are built better for just being “doers” and don’t even consider failure. It is important to try to stay focused. Sometimes it is better to just make a bunch of email folders and start archiving them, only reading the most important ones. There is alot of good information to be gleaned from most of these emails, but one needs to stay clear and focused. There must be a time when we can look into the mirror, and tell ourselves that it is time to move forward….the time is now…..and to learn as we go along, and that this learning is not to be equated to failure. We learn our most important lessons and information when we do.
Regarding joint venture useage and list building–first, I must agree with the validity of this fact and fear. It is no easy task to REALLY build a list. Google adwords and Yahoo search marketing pretty much prohibit the useage of paid listings for the purpose of list building via the useage of squeeze pages. If in doubt, just go ask your google or yahoo representative. It is going to be interesting to see how Michael avoids violating the terms of services for these two resources whilst still building a good and effective list with real potential prospects, ie relevance. Having said this, IT WOULD BE REALLY NICE IF WE COULD FORM OUR OWN JOINT VENTURES HERE WITH THIS PRODUCT RELEASE. I have yet to find any potential joint venture for any future project I may implement. One of my biggest fears is being able to effectively joint venture with an ethical marketer who cares enough to give newbies a chance. It is easy to say that we need to build a relationship, but have you ever tried? I recently saw an interview from an elite marketer who we are probably all familiar with. I was surprised to hear how fast he clicked the delete button. Furthermore, I was even more surprised to hear the inference wherein it was shared that, in so many words, “Just because you scratched my back, doesn’t mean I have any obligation whatsoever to scratch yours, under any circumstance”. Indeed, breaking into the inner circle of these major internet marketer’s and truly forming a joint venture is most formidable. This could be Michael’s next product release. It isn’t as easy as just “forming a relationship”. The group is nearly unapproachable. The way I see it, we have a better chance winning the lottery than getting any major marketer to promote our product, in any form, to his or her list.
It should be realized that newbies should be learning a valueable lesson via this blog and subscription–Michael is the supreme being at building anticipation. I have never seen before such skill of anticipation building implemented. While it is realized that list building is the theme of this project, I am hopeful that he will consider letting us know how to build a password protected site and streaming videos via the same method he is deploying right now before our eyes. I have yet to find a method to stream videos behind a password protected site–in other words, if the URL gets out, they still can’t watch the videos without a username and password, and with the ability of password sharing abuse detection. While we may know how to build a list, it is equally important to know how to share the information with the list securely and effectively as Michael is doing at this moment. Merely giving us the name of a hosting company doesn’t solve the complexities of the endeavour. The support system and private membership and streaming has to be effectively implemented–it is my understanding that either a streaming server OR bandwidth throttling has to be implemented to prevent a denial of service during opening day. Bandwidth throttling can only occur on a server level, and how to technically request this remains elusive, ie no tech support person has answered clearly as to what we need to request from another provider to implement and prevent this DOS during heavy loading, ie opening day. Michael already experienced a crash due to this problem with the adsense implementation.
Market research….it is my understanding that this is best implemented when you already have a list, or lots of traffic. A survey is setup, and this is passed, usually, thru askdatabase.com if I am to remember correctly. I think I heard about the ‘the most burning question’ script, and I am sure there are several other php-based scripts. But, to be frank, in my opinion, one needs either a list or traffic to find out the data that is most relevant to your potential information product (i aint talkin about ebay here), and then it is probably best to pass that thru ask database to narrow in on the most used words…..one should probably educate the surveyed population…..as briefly as possible, state the most important thing you want to learn about. Michael, feel free to expound.
In regard to selling affiliate products–again, it is important to realize that many ads are denied by google adwords because it is an affiliate product and nothing or little more. Selling affiliate products is fine, and I too will do it, but if you don’t have a list, or if you are not giving an extensive review along with other resources (to evenly remotely have a chance on adwords), it is probably not going to be as fruitful as one would like. Even getting into Directory Engines to promote link popularity and thus traffic, is no easy task when one is selling primarily affiliate products–over and over they are frequently denied. In some cases, you don’t get your money back, either. If there is going to be an emphasis on selling affiliate products, learning how to walk the line and effectively promoting said domain needs to be illustrated clearly, and not abstractly commented on. In the infamous mini course I reviewed, I went to this marketer’s case study reviewed sites…..many were closed, many were not in clickbank in any way i could validate, the alexa ranking was off the list as was trafficestimator, and I could find practically no inbound links and a PR of 0 to 3. What is the point? Even some of the most influential marketers that have taught how to setup sites and sell affiliate products, there case study sites appear to have been rather unsuccessful, in my opinion.
Costs: costs to implement–well, show us alternatives. I have no problem spending $2500.00 the first month of advertising if I have a reasonable expectation to build a targeted list of 2500 members in 30days. However, I can also see some people only wanting to spend $250.00
In regard to the price of the course, to be frank, I wish you’d just let us early birds buy it now so if we happen to be working offsite and can’t get to the computer OR YOUR SITE in 24-72hrs, we can still get the introductory $147.00 price or whatever. I already missed one offer and had to pay that instead of 97.00 because I couldnt load the web page.
In closing, congratulations to a product that appears to be becoming a superstar right before our newbie eyes.
Just to let you know, IE is not required, the video played just fine in Firefox 1.0.7.
Anyway, looking forward to your final product. I have been pleased with videos from you in the past!
Hey Michael. I just finished watching the update. I like your style. Here is a quick question which may be answered in the series. Why is finding a market the first item on the list of things to do? Keep up the great work. Bye for now.
Richard
Hi Michael,
Not bad, but it will be interesting to see if it’s any different to the 1000’s already out there about list building.
I hope it’s not full of hype like some of your stuff, like the Website Content Builder, where you stated it only took 14 sec to generate so many uniques articles, where in fact it took some people hrs to get to learn the software.
Len
I am awaiting your video with open arms, open mind and eyes wide open to see “how a newbie can become a champion!” I have just published my first website: http://www.todaystraveltips.com and know that I still need a lot of guidance with this upcoming challenge.
Michael,
I’m really excited for the video series but i have one concern. I am an intermediate/advanced internet marketer, and i have several lists and a product, so my concern was will someone like myself benefit from a course targeted at newbies?
The only reason I don’t simply move on is because it’s you that’s making these videos, and you never know what hidden gems I would miss by passing up on the offer. So basically my question is do you have anything in there that experienced marketers will find valuable?
Kirby - I’m still looking at the pricing for this. As for ‘ballooning investment in advertising’ - almost all the steps are free, free software, free resources etc. There are some that will cost (getting a domain name, getting your own site - I show you how to do all this). I will also be telling you about some other ways to speed up your list building but these are optional. You will not need to spend many thousands or even many hundreds to do this!
Michael, you’re a big name in internet business. i think you can make a deal with the hosting-provider you found, to get your customers have a reduction. it would be an interesting bonus to the product, as nobody likes the idea of extra costs.
a question: will you mention anything about affiliates in the course? i’m sure they help building your list; so could be good to have in the series.
Gryphon
Again WOW!!
I’m excited Michael, and anxious to get my hands on this program. ~G~
I’ve taken your lead and set a “challenge” to myself.
Generate enough revenue through eMarketing to purchase ‘11 Days to List Profits’ by Oct 30th -how bout that! hehe..
I have already secured a domain name and hosting. The site will be going live by the end of the weekend.
I want to higlight your prelaunch and recommend visitors to your site here.
Here are my questions:
1. What is the best way to link to ‘11 days 2 List Profits’ from my site?
2. Will we(your list members) have the opportunity to earn affiliate commision from the sale of your product?
3. If so, can we have this in place before the launch day you have set?
Thanks for this opportunity to glean from your knowledge and expierence!
Best Regards,
Mark Z.
Hi Michael,
To get initial traffic to your website do you use PPC or Yahoo or Google Adwords, ect.?
Thank you.
OK Michael…
I’m frustrated! I’m leaning towards making Aardvark Zymurgy my new niche… “Home Brewing Recipies Guaranteed To Get Your Pet Aardvark Drunk!” (e-Book, Newsletter, maybe a blog and some video’s…)
With 8036 searches on Overture for AARDVARK, and a Keyword PPC cost of .11 cents - I won’t go broke as fast…
I’m obviously a list building failure with my current project because PPC fees are killing me:
http://Tele-ClinicSecrets.com
Oh I liked the video’s by the way! Good stuff!
Great stuff. I’d like to know if others are like me: When I get an email my attention span is very short.
.
I tend to not read full newsletters in the emails;tedious
However,if there are a few article title lines about content in the newsletter I will click a link to go to the site to read it.
Is this the norm? Or is it better to include all of the news inside the email as far as your research indicates?
Michael, I am on an Indiana Comcast Business connection, 5MegabitsPerSecond Download. This is a major United States provider. I have been unable to visit this site for about 12hrs. I was able to connect thru an out of country proxy server, so that got me wondering.
I did a reverse dns to get the known IP address of this domain, and then I added that to my hosts file on my computer, ie related the IP address to www.11daystolistprofits.com and I am here. There appears to be a dns propagation issue in the area of Indiana. Did you or your provider mess with your dns? If I didnt know how to bypass dns servers by hard coding your domain ip in my hosts file, i wouldnt even be able to visit here.
Hi Michael,
I have just joined this thread by watching your latest video in response to the email you sent me today. Brilliant. I love your simple step by step concept. A couple of questions for you.
Firstly, what are you thoughts on using sub-domains of an existing domain instead of buying a new one. Is it essential to buy a new one?
Also I have just dug deep and bought Joel Comm’s, Instant Asdsense Templates. I’m sure you are friends and know what his product is like. So my question is, is it an easy fit together for the 2 packages? ie Yours and Joel’s?
I hope like Joel you will over deliver on your eventual price tag
This many hours of video from the likes of yourself could blow the budget
Hey Michael
I just can’t wait to get my hands on your final product. LOVELY I would say. Like Kirby, I am very eager to know a ballpark figure. Please do count me in your early bird list. All the very best to you.
Regards,
Jimmy
Dear Micael,
I love you. I do. I love to watch your videos, even just for entertainment. I have a problem of getting stuck watching you, when I should be working! LOL
My biggest question, that i have asked so many people, and cannot get a straight answer is. How do I create a download/thankyou page to automatically come up when they join the list, or buy something for that matter. Do I need to upload everything to a special folder? I’m not even sure how to make a download link. I know this sounds like a silly question, but you dais for newbies, and I am as new as it gets, and don’t mind being “Childlike” in my questions!
Thanks so much,
Leah Cowan
I just watched your video, it looks great. You said in the video that you found a product to sell. I am new to all of this and I have look at products on clickbank. And on most of their sales pages are already opt-in form or other ways they collect email address.
My question to you is how are you able to collect an email address and are you using their sales page. And is this something that is covered in your videos.
Don - no I don’t sleep much at the moment! In answer to your question: the quickest way to build a list is find lots of people that share your interest and give them something of real value for nothing in exchange for their email address!
Ahmed - pay per click can be a good way to build lists but to me, I would rather focus on ways that are free, more long term and more sustainable. There are also, I think, better ways to get people onto your list than using Pay Per Click Ads.
Steven - thank you for your *extensive* comments! There will be no rambling - anything that makes it into the videos will be pure content and totally essential to the process. No fluff. No filler.
Paid vs. non-paid: I am trying to create a fair balance here. The update videos on this blog do contain advice that you can apply directly to make more money online but obviously they are a mere taster for the product that goes live on 1st November so I can’t give everything away.
Joint Ventures - this is another area entirely but I must state that it is possible to get good relationships with the so-called ‘inner circle’ of powerful list owners if you go about it the right way. Becoming their affiliate and customer is always a great start. Help them out first and put everything in their perspective. But we’re getting off track here..
Will I showing you how to build the site that these videos will be accessible on? Possibly. This is the sort of ‘behind the curtains’ information that I will be sharing with you on my next product - the behind the scenes, members-only site. More on this in the New Year..
Steven you said:
>”In regard to the price of the course, to be >frank, I wish you’d just let us early birds >buy it now so if we happen to be working >offsite and can’t get to the computer OR YOUR >SITE in 24-72hrs, we can still get the >introductory $147.00 price or whatever”
You can’t buy it yet because it’s not 100% ready! I have learned a lot from the launch of adsense-videos.com so, fingers crossed, there won’t be any website crash this time around although the demand will be high (hopefully!).
Richard, you asked:
“Why is finding a market the first item on the list of things to do?”
Because you are doing internet MARKETING. It all starts with finding a market - a group of people who have a shared problem and are willing to pay for a solution. Once you find that you can satisfy that market and get them on your list by giving them what they want.
Len asked:
“I hope it’s not full of hype like some of your stuff, like the Website Content Builder, where you stated it only took 14 sec to generate so many uniques articles, where in fact it took some people hrs to get to learn the software.”
I’m sorry you feel it’s hype. Obviously there is no way you can create the articles you are referring to in 14 seconds - as I clearly showed in the video accompanying that message - you need to ‘train’ the software and the more time you put into it the better your results.
I know we are all looking for a magic button that gets pressed and makes us all millionaires but it doesn’t happen that way. It takes work! And it is the same with these videos - you will need to work through each of the steps in turn. Just watching them won’t get you a list!
Joe, you asked:
“do you have anything in there that experienced marketers will find valuable?”
Yes. The techniques I go into, although presented in such a way that ANYONE can do them, include methods that you will be able to apply to your existing lists and list-building efforts. A lot of the content, for example, focuses on how to manage and monetize the list once you have it - all of which you will get new ideas and tactics from.
Gryphon - I have found what I believe is the best hosting solution out there based on cost, value and up-time. Yes - I do mention affiliate marketing in the course as the primary way of generating revenue from your list. This is because I think it is the easiest and quickest way. Once you have your list you can make money from it however you like - affiliate marketing, selling your own products etc.
Mark, you asked:
“1. What is the best way to link to ‘11 days 2 List Profits’ from my site?”
Please just link to http://www.11daystolistprofits.com Thank you!
2. Will we(your list members) have the opportunity to earn affiliate commision from the sale of your product?
Eventually, yes. I will be working on creating the affiliate program next week with a view to having it ready some time from mid-November onwards.
3. If so, can we have this in place before the launch day you have set?
It’s unlikely at this stage because I want to devote as much time as possible to making the best product I can.
Hilary, you asked:
“To get initial traffic to your website do you use PPC or Yahoo or Google Adwords, ect.?”
In these videos I show you methods to get traffic that do not require you to spend money on pay per click ads.
Nicole, you asked:
“is it better to include all of the news inside the email as far as your research indicates?”
Yes. You are probably not reading all the way through some of the emails you get because they’re being written by people who don’t know how to create cool emails that keep people interested and hooked! I show you in the videos how to get rid of any ‘weak links’ in your email so that people will open it, read the intro, read the body and then finally - take the action you want them to take.
Steven - I’ll be honest, your question about DNS and IPs went totally over my head. As far as I know there is no problem with this server now..
Ray, you asked:
“Firstly, what are you thoughts on using sub-domains of an existing domain instead of buying a new one. Is it essential to buy a new one?”
It’s not essential but in most cases I would recommend it. You are talking maybe $15 here and you don’t need lots of them. If you have a dotcom domain name that includes the benefits of what it is you are offering and is highly targeted to your market it is going to get you more clicks from various places than a subdomain on a spuriously-related main website.
“Also I have just dug deep and bought Joel Comm’s, Instant Asdsense Templates. I’m sure you are friends and know what his product is like. So my question is, is it an easy fit together for the 2 packages? ie Yours and Joel’s?”
There is a good fit. “11 Days To List Profits” is obviously not an AdSense product but you can use the advice contained within it to increase your AdSense earnings, regardless of whether you have Joel’s product (that has now sold out by the way!).
Ray, you also asked:
“I hope like Joel you will over deliver on your eventual price tag
This many hours of video from the likes of yourself could blow the budget”
I always try to overdeliver! You can rest assured that you will be getting exceptional value and as always, you look at this as investment, not a cost, because that’s exactly what it is.
Jimmy, you asked;
“I just can’t wait to get my hands on your final product. LOVELY I would say. Like Kirby, I am very eager to know a ballpark figure. Please do count me in your early bird list. All the very best to you.”
All I can say at this point is that I will make it as accessible as possible to people of all budgets whilst not underselling myself and the value of the advice that is in the videos. I will keep you informed!
Leah, you asked:
“How do I create a download/thankyou page to automatically come up when they join the list, or buy something for that matter. Do I need to upload everything to a special folder?”
Yes, you just create a page and upload it to your webspace. You then need to link this page from your sign up page (where people put in their email address). This can be a bit tricky and although it is a simple process for the end user, as a website owner there are many steps involved. Unfortunately far too many to explain it all fully here but you know that I’ve included it ALL in the videos right down to the last click.
Laser, you asked:
“My question to you is how are you able to collect an email address and are you using their sales page. And is this something that is covered in your videos.”
Yes, it is covered in the videos. I show you a unique way of creating something of value that you can dangle as a carrot to encourage people to join your list. They join your list for the carrot then you give them the carrot (amongst other things!). Hope this isn’t too cryptic but this is the general idea.
Thank you for all your comments and please do keep them coming!
Michael
Michael,
The question I had, was answered in a couple of the above blog questions… The dangling carrot answer… And your target audiance… How I could have used ALL your ideas and teachings when I was going to school! And I’m continually wondering why, colleges in the IT studies, do not teach these marketing principals, helping their student defray their costs of tuition, books and costs of living… It’s mind boggling!
Thank you for your insite, ability to teach, and your resources…
Hopefully, your “Hand In Hand” winning “11 Day Challenge” student!
G. Rocky Manos
Hi Michael, you did say we could ask any question about list building ok here is mine. If you offer something for free, ie. dangle a carrot in order to get the signs up, are the subsequent sign ups not just looking for the free carrots (!) and therefore wont dip their hands in their pockets to buy future
carrots (!!!!!) hope this makes sense, sally
good idea
Christian Greetings,
The Word Of God tells us: “study to show yourself approved unto God a workman that needth not be ashamd, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
I feel the Video Course you are offering would better prepare myself to proclaim the Gospel Of Jesus Christ!
Yours on the Victory Side, Rev. R.G. Owsley
Sally - you need to ‘train’ the people on your list to expect carrots and also promotions!
If you give them too many carrots and not enough promotions they will hop off! It’s all about balance.
Thanks,
Michael Cheney
Hi Michael, the trial videos were great. I believe I will be going forward for a change.
I have a dot com domain with my name. Would this be good for whatever I choose for interest and product? I am thinking because of its versatility.
As Always,
In His Glory,
Ron
Michael,
Having viewed your Intro video’s on the ‘howtoo’s’ of your step by step approach to building a list(as a subscriber to your Newsletter) it is clear to me that not only are you doing just that, but you are also leaving absolutely nothing out;because you know that such information will be required by most of those who need this product, especially those like me who have been struggling for almost 3 years to earn a few extra dollars,to augment the miserable aged pension I receive from the government!
The fact that your product will be that good;is exactly what I want and need, will almost certainly preclude me from being able to purchase it,because I will not be able to afford it.Mores the pity!
Nonetheless I congratulate you on your vision, understanding, courage and honesty to tell it ‘as it is’;I wish you well and great success_
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Laurence Chilcott
